Internship Opportunities

 

Gabrail Cancer Center offers internships for college students and graduates who want to gain experience to prepare them for the work force in the health care industry. GCC provides services and education in the following areas:

 

  • Patient care
  • Blood Draw
  • Laboratory instruments including hematology and chemistry analyzers along with urinalysis, PT/INR, EKG, and blood smear staining
  • Clinical research–both clinical and data collection
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) in a paperless health care environment
  • Billing and office management using state-of-the-art digital technology
  • Professionalism and work ethics

 

The following candidates are welcome to apply for internship positions:

 

  • Qualified candidates who want to gain knowledge in clinical research through training in areas of data collection and process of conducting clinical research
  • Qualified candidates who are seeking a career in medical school or graduate education
  • College juniors and seniors who want an opportunity to research a project designed by the physicians and research staff at GCC with the intention of publication
  • Nursing school students who want to gain real life experience in the wide variety of services rendered at GCC including acquaintance with patient handling and management, lab testing, blood draw, and clinical research processes and procedures. Nursing students will be exposed to the methods of professionalism in patient care, documentation and safety of chemotherapy administration, and patient education about side effects
  • Phlebotomy and Medical Assistant students who want to be acquainted and with blood draw and laboratory instruments
  • Qualified individuals who want to familiarize themselves with electronic scheduling and filing, health care claims billing and collection, and front desk management
